Art and Science

Instead of the art exhibit held in previous conferences, we are introducing a new type of presentation. This type, called Art and Science, intends to bridge art-making and scientific research in empirical aesthetics. We therefore welcome participants to submit artistic pieces that either spawned from scientific findings or were used in scientific research. These will be displayed in a special session, and accompanied by a presentation of 20 minutes where the artist exhibits the artwork and talks about the connection between the work and research practice. Please note, if you have an artwork that requires special arrangements for presentation (e.g., reinforced wall, podium) we ask that you contact us directly before submitting.

For a presentation, please submit a 250 word abstract via the form in the ConfTool system. In the abstract, please highlight how the artwork is related to scientific research in the domain of empirical aesthetics. Please also include a photograph or image of the artwork (uploaded in the ConfTool form). The abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of experts in the field. Author- and reviewer-supplied keywords will facilitate the review-assignment process. The members of the scientific panel will oversee all review procedures and make the final decision on acceptance.

Notification of acceptance will be sent by April 1st, 2016. We cannot guarantee that all submissions will be eligible for presentation.
